Q) A couple of tramps call at a country mansion looking for food. The lady of the house says "You can earn your food. I have a very important picnic party today so I want you two to be seen chopping logs as if you are my regular staff." The picnic is in full swing when one of the tramps starts dancing all over the place, summersaults, cartwheels, the lot. The picnic finishes and the other tramp goes for the wages. The lady of the house speaks earnestly to him .and he goes back to his mate and says," She wants to know if you'll cut another two toes off next week at a birthday party". sorry about this one, I'm tired ! Entertainment on TV, REDNOSE EVE, is this what passes for entertainment now?

Q) we seem to have become accepting of very low standards of entertainment on tv , what passes for entertainment now is very poor, especially this eve on BBC1. And those progs that repeat the same inf all the time, 10years younger prog could be 5 mins long if they didnt repeat all through the prog.What do you think?

A) Well I'm sorry but i would rather watch an evening of Comic Relief, than the usual drivel of "Celebrity wannabe" and "Reality" or "Phone in quizzes" which seem to be a bloody great big rip off. At least the money raised for Comic Relief goes to worthwhile causes not greedy Television companies that just wanna rip people off, and i hope that Comic relief goes on for many more years helping people less fortunate than ourselves. And you can stick your 10 points where you keep the rest of your brains

Entertainment Industry- Effects on Society?

Q) Im a 17 year old high school student who has to write a paper on the entertainment industry's effect on society. I, personally feel that there are more negative impacts than positive. However, I would like the opinions of others. Do you believe the entertainment industry promotes positivity or negativity? Do you belive there is certain certain entertainment that promotes such positivity or negativity? I would really appreciate it if these questions were answered. Also, any internet references would be great too. Thanks!

A) It makes you reactive, slow, a starer. You can tell people who take in too much entertainment, they just sit there with their eyes and mouths wide open, expecting to be entertained all the time. They probably end up working low wage jobs, and become complacent and numb until they die.

Media Entertainment VS Morals?

Q) Whats your opinion on entertainment vs morals? For example, TV shows like prison break which may encourage individuals to break out of jail, and shows like Wrestling which encourages violence VS people who watch them solely taking them as just entertainment and abidding by their morals of knowing what is right and wrong? Does this sort of entertainment influence us in a negative way?

A) if i said Cherry Falls, bet u'd know exactly what i mean? 1 nasty film that inspired a horde of equally nasty teenagers/men 2 copy-cat & following media suppression 4 the sake of profit! the film was banned here in the UK, but sadly u can still buy copies if u really want it. i'm not sure some film directors/producers understand the idea they can give susceptible easily lead people ideas from idolising the silver-screen. A Clock Work Orange was outrageous & taken in a different way, i even watched it. but didn't feel compelled 2 copy it! it takes a certain person 2 feel that these films r worth copying/mirroring. the negative is always memorable, compared 2 the positive. entertainment should mean just that. 2 entertain.

Q) What does the word mean to you? What makes 'good' entertainment and 'bad' entertainment? Why are we so fascinated by it?

A) entertainment: anything that attempts to give the viewers pleasure. good : entertainment thats gives pleasure bad: that fails to give pleasure we r fascinated by things that pleasure us.

Q) What kind of movies, music, etc. was played during World War 1 and what sports were popular? All in general, what was entertainment like back then, and if some direct links or something could be posted, that would be awesome!

A) radio was the hottest thing then.

Q) Flying with them soon (May) - do their planes have seatback entertainment or only some planes? They say on the site yes for 777 but no info for any others (flying from UK to Dallas whihc is a long way for no movie!). Thanks

A) http://www.seatguru.com click American Airlines on the left, look for the 777 type scheduled for your flight (should say on your receipt), then click the entertainment icon to get a general description. I believe AA 777s have individual seatback entertainment centres throughout. According to SeatGuru, it's 14 channels, and headphones cost $2 in economy.

The Entertainment Industry, how does it have an impact on Society?

Q) do you think the entertainment industry has a positive or negative impact on society? Entertainment can be anything from dance to theme parks to video games. any kind of entertainment u can think of would be fine. make it arguementative.

A) Movies can be a stress reliever, music can provide distractions from stress, theme parks provide fun. DVD's provide a diversion from stress at home. Sometimes these forms of entertainment are the only way a person has to relieve stress, especially if they don't have family or friends. On the flip side, movies, music, etc., empty our wallets. Good for the entertainment business bad for us. I see no merits in video games. Addicting and promote too much violence if you ask me.

How do you submit entertainment gossip to services such as Reuters, or is there a mailing list of UK Tabloids?

Q) I see a lot of celebs when I'm out and about, and every so often, they'll do something particularly obnoxious. 90% of the time the papers have picked up on this the next morning, but for those 10% of times when they haven't, how do I get the word out? I'm not interested in being paid for a story, I'd just like to get a chuckle out of seeing something I reported in print (with appropriate eye-witness backups of course). Had one or two picked up on by the Mail on Sunday in the past, but they're the only ones. So how do I submit entertainment gossip to Reuters, or is there an email list of tabloid entertainment journalists?

A) pick a couple of papers etc then just contact them and speak to a reporter they will gove you contact details and you can just email them in whenever you have something. Most of our freelances work like this, just submit reports and if we use it we pay them, so you never know you may get somethign out of it

A) Entertainment is something that captures your attention and for a short time replaces all of the maudlin things that are going on in your head. It allows a temporary escape from reality...

Q) is yahoo answers a place to go when you really need help with something or is it just for entertainment ,so many people comment on proper grammer,puncuation and spelling you would think we were in school top contributors exspecially sara.h really need to watch what they say to people when they use there actuall picture to make nasty comments to god knows who , you never know who your putting down or what there going through and since your so smart you use your real identity you never know if the person lives in your neighborhood. be carful these points serves no purpose so theres no need to go all out just to get them Y/A was designed to be a place to go and get real help for real questions from real people, so dont say go to a pro because im simply asking a question .

A) It's an outlet for me. I like to answer questions where I think my experience might help them. And while I agree that a lot of folks on here have pretty poor grammar, most may be from another country, so I give them the benefit of the doubt. In my mind there are certain area's of my life that are personal and I will not comment on others views, one is religion. Each to their own, live and let live. While I might disagree with the philosophy, I will not answer those questions. Sex is another area that is personal. Why someone asks... well you get the picture. So if I can read and understand the question, and have some experience or knowledge about the topic and can help, I answer. Otherwise I go onto another question. My pet peeve is abbreviations!

Q) what do you think people in the 1800's did for entertainment at night

A) In the 1800's I doubt they did a lot a night after all they had to do all day, like plow the fields, cook everything from scratch, make clothes for the family, and keep up with raising several children. On special occasions, they had party's and square dancing. I have heard...that they did such things, as sit together in the living room and Dad would read the Bible while Mom sewed, and the kids played on the floor, all in the same room....family time.

Q) what are some of major events that happened in the 21st century in the entertainment spot? this is a school report!

A) I guess the big thing at the moment is that everyone is going into Rehab. I guess there was Anna Nicole Smith. I guess there were the big weddings and relationships like Tom and Katie, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. There was the whole Michael Jackson molestation case. There were sports stars flying into buildings. I guess everyone coming out of the closet. Kylie Minogue getting breast cancer - Anastacia too.

Q) why is acting still not considered a noble profession

A) When was the last time you saw a new actor of the younger generation that actually had any talent? They are all more concerned with appearance and fame than actually honing their craft so that they can become great like those who have come before them. The industry is too fake and profit driven. It might still be a noble profession to those who only act in theater because there are no second takes, no special effects, no doubles and no getting by on your sex appeal.
